Incoloy 800 (Alloy 800, UNS N08800) Wire Description:

The Incoloy alloy is a series of nickel–iron–chromium alloys manufactured by Special Metals Corporation for industrial applications that demand high corrosion resistance and performance at elevated temperatures. Incoloy alloys differ from Inconel alloys because their distinct composition produces differences in their applications.
Incoloy 800 is a nickel, iron and chromium alloy. This alloy remains stable and retains its austenitic structure. Incoloy 800 is primarily used for applications at temperatures up to 1 100°F, whereas alloys 800H and 800HT are normally used at temperatures exceeding 1 100°F, where creep and rupture strength is required. Alloys 800H/HT are employed in several processes where they are exposed to corrosive environments and high temperatures, for example in heat treatment plants, chemical and petrochemical processing facilities, nuclear power stations and the pulp and paper industry.

Applications of Incoloy 800:

- Steam/hydrocarbon reforming for components including pigtails, collectors, distributors, transfer pipes, catalyst tubes and tubes for quench systems
- Tubes for ethylene pyrolysis in convective and radiant sections. They provide resistance to carburisation and maintain satisfactory mechanical properties.
- Tubes for ethylene dichloride cracking. They offer resistance to carburisation and to dry hydrogen chloride and chlorine components, for example in heat exchangers, piping systems and other installations in coal processing plants.
- Tubes for steam generators in helium coolant and high-temperature reactor systems. They exhibit high strength and resistance to both helium and steam.
