Platinum alloys are employed for temperature measurement. They serve as catalysts and as electrical contact materials. They are utilised in electrode applications, for elasticity, and in hydromagnetic applications. Molybdenum (Mo), tungsten (W), ruthenium (Ru), and silver (Ag) affect the temperature coefficient of platinum resistance. Nickel (Ni), osmium (Os), and ruthenium (Ru) increase the hardness of platinum. Platinum alloys with iridium, rhodium, and refractory metals are the most frequently used alloy systems.
