Niobium Plates & Sheets Description
Niob (Nb) is a lustrous grey metal with a melting point of 2468°C, a boiling point of 4742°C and a density of 8.57 g/cm³. Highly pure niobium exhibits increased ductility, although it hardens with an increased content of impurities. Niobium has a very low thermal neutron capture cross‐section and is therefore used in the nuclear industry. Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) is a trusted supplier of high quality niobium plates and sheets.

Standard Specification ASTM B 393-05 for niobium strips, niobium alloy strips, niobium foils, niobium alloy foils, niobium sheets and niobium alloy sheets.
This specification covers five grades of forged niobium in strip, alloy strip, foil, alloy foil, sheet and alloy sheet, as follows:
1. ASTM B 393-05 UNS R04200 - Type 1, unalloyed niobium in reactor grade;
2. ASTM B 393-05 UNS R04210 - Type 2, unalloyed niobium in commercial grade;
3. ASTM B 393-05 UNS R04251 - Type 3, niobium alloy in reactor grade containing 1% zirconium;
4. ASTM B 393-05 UNS R04261 - Type 4, commercial grade niobium alloy containing 1% zirconium;
5. ASTM B 393-05 UNS R0xxxx - Type 5, defined by a Residual Resistivity Ratio (RRR) of pure niobium.
RRR Values: guaranteed minimum RRR 300 *
* The Residual Resistivity Ratio (RRR) is defined as the ratio of the electrical resistance at 295 K to that at 4.2 K.

Niobium Plate, Sheet and Foil Applications
Niobium plates and sheets perform under corrosive conditions and elevated temperatures. Consequently, they are used in the chemical industry, in electroplating, in medical treatment and in the aerospace sector.
