Tantal Mesh Description
Tantal Mesh is manufactured by punching expanded tantalum sheet. The process utilises tantalum sheet specified as pure tantalum in accordance with ASTM B708, as alloyed tantalum exhibits excessive strength that hinders conversion into mesh. Tantalum sheet is chiefly applied in circumstances requiring acid and alkaline resistance, high strength, high temperature endurance and wear resistance. It is also used for electrodes in electronic devices.
Tantal (Ta) is a dark blue-grey metal. It is very heavy, ductile and hard, and displays high corrosion resistance. Tantalum exhibits particular chemical resistance at temperatures below 150 °C and can be dissolved only by hydrofluoric acid. It has the fourth highest melting point among all metals and can form extremely thin, protective oxide layers for high-grade capacitors.
