Selenium Metal Description
Selenium (Se) is a non-metal that exhibits chemical and physical properties closely related to the elements sulphur and Tellur. The principal commercial source of selenium is a by‐product of copper refining. Selenium is used in the production of electronic devices, in pigments and in the manufacture of glass. The grey, metallic form of the element is very stable under normal conditions. Under exposure to light, the electrical conductivity of this form increases significantly.

Applications of Selenium Metal
Selenium metal is used in the production of toner cartridges, optical materials, static photographic materials and other optical instruments. Selenium metal is also the feedstock for the production of metal selenides and compound semiconductors.
