Cordierite Ceramic Rod Description
Cordierite Ceramic Rods are produced from cordierite ceramic. Cordierite ceramic is a magnesium–aluminium silicate that demonstrates thermal shock resistance. It exhibits low thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion and is manufactured at a relatively low cost. It is frequently used as a structural ceramic in refractory applications and in other processes where rapid temperature variations occur.
Properties of Cordierite Ceramic Rods
- Thermal shock resistance measured at 500 °C
- Low thermal conductivity (3.0 W/m-K) and low thermal expansion (1.7 mm/m-°C)
- Mechanical strength with compressive strength of 350 MPa (ASTM C773)
- Usable at temperatures up to approximately 1 200 °C
- Resistant to cracking
