Zirconium Dioxide Ceramic Foam Filter Description
Zirconium Dioxide Ceramic Foam Filters are used for filtering molten steel of various types, including unalloyed, low-alloy, stainless and high-alloy steel as well as superalloys based on nickel and cobalt. Given that their resistance to attack and corrosion by molten steel has been verified in tests, they remove inclusions, reduce gas entrapment in the liquid metal and maintain a laminar flow. Consequently, the filtered metal exhibits lower impurity levels. Lower impurity levels result in castings with improved consistency, reduced waste and decreased inclusion defects.

- Chemical filtrations and catalyst carriers, among other uses.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- How do Zirconium Dioxide Ceramic Foam Filters function?
Molten metal is cast through the porous ceramic structure of the filter. The filter retains impurities and solid particulates while allowing metal with lower impurity levels to pass. Consequently, the resultant castings meet stricter quality criteria.
- Which types of metals can be filtered using Zirconium Dioxide Ceramic Foam Filters?
The filters can be applied to a wide range of metals and alloys, including aluminium, steel, copper and various non-ferrous metals.
- Are Zirconium Dioxide Ceramic Foam Filters reusable?
Although the filters may be used multiple times, their efficiency declines over time given the accumulation of impurities. They can typically be cleaned and reused several times before replacement becomes necessary.
