Introduction Platinum-based chemotherapy, particularly cisplatin, often results in electrolyte imbalances such as hypomagnesaemia, hypokalaemia, hypophosphataemia, hypocalcaemia, and hyponatraemia. This review aims to consolidate existing literature, clarify the mechanisms behind these imbalances, and outline clinical manifestations and management strategies. Oncologists and primary care physicians must accurately diagnose and treat these conditions to improve patient outcomes. Understanding the nuances of platinum-induced electrolyte disturbances is crucial for providing optimal care to cancer patients.
