Introduction The study examines the impact of introducing hafnium and platinum into an aluminide coating on Inconel 625 alloy using SEM/TEM methods. This coating has two layers: an additive layer and an interdiffusion layer. The additive layer and part of the interdiffusion layer consist of a β-NiAl phase. The interdiffusion layer has a finger-like structure composed of β-NiAl and TCP—σ type phases. Fine chromium precipitates and larger niobium carbide precipitates are present within the structure. σ phase inclusions are located at the substrate-interdiffusion layer border. Platinum fully integrates into the β-NiAl matrix, while hafnium forms HfO2 precipitates near the additive/interdiffusion interface.
