Germanium(II)-Iodide (CAS 13573-08-5) Applications
Germanium(II)-Iodide (CAS 13573-08-5) is employed in photovoltaic applications as demonstrated below.
We have fabricated solar cells using germanium iodide perovskites. They utilise compact and mesoporous TiO2 and SpiroOMeTAD as electron- and hole-selective contacts. Our devices show photocurrent densities of 5.7 mA cm² for CsGeI3 and 4 mA cm² for MAGeI3, as depicted in Fig. 4(a). These values exceed those obtained from pure tin-based perovskite compounds. Computational screening indicates that germanium could replace lead in halide perovskite materials for photovoltaic applications.
