Lanthanum Hexaboride (LaB6) Plate/Tablet Description
Lanthanum hexaboride slab/tablet (LaB6, also known as lanthanum boride and LaB6) is an inorganic compound. It has a melting point of 2 528 K and is a fire-resistant ceramic material. It is insoluble in water or hydrochloric acid and remains very stable under vacuum. Stoichiometric samples are a deep purple, while boron-rich samples (above LaB6.07) appear blue. Ion bombardment changes the colour from violet to emerald green. LaB6 is a superconductor with a transition temperature of 0.45 K.
