Proton Exchange Membrane Description

The Proton exchange membrane for flow batteries, also known as polymer electrolyte membrane, is a key component in flow batteries, particularly in vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) and other new types. Its primary function is to selectively allow protons (H⁺ ions) to pass between the positive and negative chambers while blocking the transition of larger ions, active materials, or other undesirable species from one half-cell to the other.

The introduction of special materials during the casting process has improved the strength, durability, and vanadium resistance of proton exchange membranes.
