Description
Using advanced extrusion and tube drawing processes, SAM manufactures tubes without joints from a variety of platinum group metals. SAM produces microtubes, standard tubes, or longer tubes cut to length in several alloys. These tubes comply with specified dimensional tolerances and quality standards for radiopaque marker bands and other applications.
Noble metal tubes for all alloys are produced using identical process steps. First, the alloy is mixed and inductively melted in a vacuum chamber under an inert atmosphere. Next, the alloy is extruded to an intermediate size using high-pressure and temperature treatments. Finally, the billet is formed using rolling mills with carbide and diamond nozzles. All melts are analysed by Spark Ablation ICP to measure alloy concentrations and impurities.
