Tantalum-Tungsten (Ta2.5W) Alloy Description
Tantalum-Tungsten (TaW) alloys exhibit measured mechanical characteristics and verified corrosion resistance. Tantalum-Tungsten is a high-strength metal alloy with a high melting point, stress resistance and corrosion resistance. SAM produces its tantalum alloys using powder metallurgy techniques. Tantalum powder is mixed with alloying elements, cast into forms, pressed at up to 2 000 bar and subsequently sintered. The Ta10W alloy (90% tantalum, 10% tungsten) is widely used. Our Ta10W alloy is particularly suited for heat exchangers and heating components in chemical apparatus construction.
We also supply high-purity spherical TaW powder (TA2.5W), Tantalum-Tungsten (Ta2.5W) alloy powder, spherical TaW powder (TA7.5W) and spherical TaW powder (TA10W).
Tantalum-Tungsten Alloy (Ta2.5W) Applications
1. Aerospace: Tantalum-Tungsten alloy products are employed in the aerospace industry given their high melting point, high hardness and good thermal stability to manufacture high-temperature components and structural materials. They are used in rocket engine design to produce nozzles, combustion chambers and turbine blades that must withstand high temperatures and pressures.
2. Military and Defence: In military and defence, Tantalum-Tungsten alloys are used because of their verified corrosion and wear resistance. They are employed to manufacture projectiles, armour-piercing munitions and other components for weapons systems. Furthermore, they are used in the production of essential parts for military communications, radar systems and navigation equipment.
3. Electronics Industry: Tantalum-Tungsten alloys possess reliable electrical and thermal conductivity and are used in the electronics sector. They are applied in the manufacture of electronic components such as capacitors, resistors and inductors, as well as substrates for integrated circuits and semiconductor devices.
4. Medical Applications: Tantalum-Tungsten alloys are chosen in the medical field owing to their biocompatibility and corrosion resistance. They are used to produce surgical instruments, orthopaedic implants and dental prosthetics. In addition, these alloys are employed for the manufacture of radiation shielding components for medical devices.
5. Industrial Manufacturing: In industrial manufacturing, Tantalum-Tungsten alloys are utilised for producing cutting tools, moulds and wear-resistant parts because of their high hardness and wear resistance. Their use improves processing efficiency, product quality and lowers production costs.
