Wolfram Carbide Cobalt Powder (WC-12Co) Description
Wolfram Carbide Cobalt Powder (WC-12Co) is a material composed of microscopic tungsten carbide particles embedded in a cobalt matrix. Tungsten carbide alone exhibits high hardness and wear resistance; however, it is somewhat brittle. The addition of cobalt, which functions to bind the tungsten carbide particles, results in a composite with defined mechanical properties, increased hardness and improved wear resistance. The powder has been developed to provide a uniform distribution of nanoparticles, thereby allowing precise control in various applications.

Wolfram Carbide Cobalt Powder (WC-12Co) Applications
1. Cutting and machining tools: Wolfram Carbide Cobalt Powder is used for producing turning inserts, drills, shaft milling cutters and saw blades. Its measured hardness and wear resistance enable operation under conditions of elevated temperature, abrasion and mechanical impact.
2. Mining and drilling tools: The powder is used in the manufacture of tools for rock drilling, mining operations and oil and gas exploration. Its mechanical characteristics qualify it for use in environments with high pressure and abrasive conditions.
3. Wear parts and components: Wolfram Carbide Cobalt Powder is utilised in the production of wear parts and components. It is applied in valve seats, sleeves, seals, bearings and nozzles where component lifetimes are extended through improved wear resistance.
4. Aerospace and defence industry: The powder is employed in this industry for turbine blades, armour-piercing projectiles and components for rocket engines, given that its stability under temperature variations and resistance to severe conditions have been validated.
5. Metal processing industry: Wolfram Carbide Cobalt Powder is used as a coating which increases the hardness and wear resistance of cutting tools, moulds and dies. In addition, it is incorporated into metal alloys to modify mechanical performance.
6. Medical and dental instruments: The powder is applied in the manufacture of surgical instruments, dental drills and bone drills. Its mechanical stability, corrosion resistance and biocompatibility have been verified in these applications.
7. Electronics and semiconductor industry: Wolfram Carbide Cobalt Powder is used as a coating material for cutting tools and wear-resistant components in the production of electronic devices and circuit boards.
