Description of Monel 400 Flanges
Monel 400 is a ductile nickel–copper alloy that is hardened by cold working.
This alloy exhibits quantified properties such as good corrosion resistance, acceptable weldability and high strength. It retains its mechanical performance at sub-zero temperatures and can operate at temperatures up to 538°C. It is resistant to hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid when deaerated.
Monel 400 shows a low corrosion rate in flowing sea water; it is therefore used extensively in shipbuilding.
