Monel 405 (Alloy 405, UNS N04405) Flange Description
Monel 405 (Alloy 405, UNS N04405) flange is a nickel–copper alloy containing cobalt and molybdenum. It has a higher sulphur content than Monel 400, thereby improving its machining capability by reducing chip formation. Like Monel 400, the R405 alloy is resistant to sea water, high-temperature steam, salt and alkalis. It also resists sulphuric acids and performs well at sub-zero temperatures.
A post-weld heat treatment is not required for Monel R405. However, thorough cleaning after welding is essential to maintain optimal corrosion resistance. Failure to clean adequately may lead to contamination and embrittlement.
