Monel 405 (Alloy 405, UNS N04405) Bar/Rod Description
Monel 405 (Alloy 405, UNS N04405) Bar /Rod is a nickel-copper alloy that incorporates cobalt and molybdenum. It contains a higher sulphur content than Monel 400, thereby improving its machinability and reducing chip formation. Monel R405 resists seawater and high-temperature steam as well as salt and alkaline environments. It also demonstrates resistance to sulphuric acids and remains serviceable at sub-zero temperatures.
A post-weld heat treatment is not required for Monel R405. However, thorough cleaning after welding is essential to achieve optimal corrosion resistance. Failure to remove contaminants may result in embrittlement.
