Aluminium-Lithium (Al-Li)-Alloy 2090 Description
The Aluminium-Lithium (Al-Li) Alloy 2090 is employed in maritime, aerospace and electronic component applications owing to its low weight, formability and corrosion resistance. Lithium is the lightest metallic element. By incorporating lithium into aluminium, the specific weight is reduced and stiffness is increased, while the designated tensile strength, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance and ductility remain within the defined parameters.
Lithium reduces the density and increases stiffness when alloyed with aluminium. With proper alloy design, Aluminium-Lithium alloys achieve quantifiable strength and toughness values.

Aluminium-Lithium Alloy (Al-Li) 2090 Application
Aluminium-Lithium alloys are used in maritime, aerospace and electronic component sectors owing to their low weight, formability and corrosion resistance. In the aerospace industry, these alloys are utilised for wing leading and trailing edges, fuselage stringers and internal framework components. The alloys are evaluated in modern aircraft for wing structures.
