Description of Aluminium Alloy 3003 Honeycomb
Honeycomb panels made from aluminium alloy 3003 are a low-density material. They primarily serve as a shear-bearing core in lightweight sandwich constructions. The airspace between the composite panels is subdivided into numerous sealed cells. Consequently, air movement is restricted and the transmission of thermal and acoustic waves is largely inhibited. Therefore, the honeycomb panel is suitable for thermal insulation, heat retention and sound insulation. When used in an adhesive-bonded composite sandwich panel, the high strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance render the material appropriate for use in doors, floors, furniture, kitchen and sanitary modules, interior partitions and energy-absorbing components.
