Tantal Crucible Description
The Tantal Crucible is a high‑temperature resistant container made of tantalum metal. It is primarily used for holding materials in high‑temperature furnaces for melting, sintering, evaporation and other processes carried out at elevated temperatures. Tantal crucibles have a high melting point, high hardness, a low coefficient of thermal expansion and corrosion resistance to various acids, alkalis and salts. Given its high melting point and hardness, the crucible is suitable for processing a wide range of materials, including refractory materials that must be processed at high temperatures. It remains stable at elevated temperatures and shows resistance to a variety of corrosive substances, thereby ensuring the purity and safety of the materials processed. Its specifications meet the requirements for high‑temperature operations.
Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) is a supplier of tantalum crucibles that has over two decades of experience in the manufacture and sale of tantalum crucibles and other tantalum products.

Tantal Crucible Applications
1. Melting at high temperatures: In high‑temperature furnaces, tantalum crucibles are employed to enclose metal or alloy materials during melting, remelting or refining processes. Given their high melting point and corrosion resistance, the crucibles maintain material purity and safety.
2. Sintering and heat treatment: Tantal crucibles are utilised for heating and maintaining the required temperature of materials during sintering and heat treatment processes. Owing to their high hardness and low coefficient of thermal expansion, the crucibles withstand high temperatures and rapid temperature changes, thereby ensuring uniform heating of the materials and controlled sintering.
3. Chemical reaction vessels: In chemical processes, tantalum crucibles serve as containers resistant to corrosive substances and high temperatures. Their corrosion resistance allows chemical reactions to proceed without contamination.
4. Applications in specific fields: Tantalum crucibles are also used in specialised areas such as high‑temperature nuclear fuel treatment in the nuclear industry and high‑temperature alloy melting in the aerospace industry. In these applications, they act as containers for various chemical reagents, including acids and alkalis. Consequently, their stability at elevated temperatures and corrosion resistance make them effective for these processes.
