Incoloy 825 (Legierung 825, UNS N08825) Bar/Rod Description:
The Incoloy alloy is a series of high-performance alloys produced by Special Metals Corporation. It is a nickel–iron–chromium alloy used for applications that require high corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength. Incoloy alloys are used in applications where Inconel alloys are also applied; however, their distinct composition produces differences in usage.
The Legierung 825 is a nickel–iron–chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum, copper and titanium. Its chemical composition provides a high level of resistance in many corrosive environments. The nickel content is sufficient to prevent chloride‐ion stress corrosion cracking. Nickel combined with molybdenum and copper yields reliable resistance against reducing environments such as sulphuric acid and phosphoric acid. Molybdenum contributes to resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion. The chromium content produces resistance to a range of oxidising substances such as nitric acid, nitrates and oxidising salts. The addition of titanium stabilises the alloy under appropriate heat treatment to prevent sensitisation to intergranular corrosion.
