Incoloy 825 (Alloy 825, UNS N08825) Plate/Sheet Description:
The Incoloy alloy series is produced by Special Metals Corporation. It consists of Nickel–Iron–Chromium alloys used in applications that demand resistance to corrosion and high operating temperatures. Incoloy alloys differ in composition from Inconel alloys, thereby resulting in variations in their application parameters.
Alloy 825 is a Nickel–Iron–Chromium alloy with additions of Molybdenum, Copper and Titanium. Its chemical composition yields resistance against a range of corrosive environments. The Nickel content is sufficient to mitigate chloride ion stress corrosion. Nickel, in combination with Molybdenum and Copper, enhances resistance in reducing environments such as sulphuric and phosphoric acid. Molybdenum contributes to resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion. The Chromium content confers resistance towards various oxidising agents including nitric acid, nitrates and oxidising salts. The Titanium addition stabilises the alloy through appropriate heat treatment, thereby reducing sensitivity to intergranular corrosion.
Other Trade Names: Alloy 825, Nickelvac 825, Nicrofer 4241
