Incoloy 800 (Alloy 800, UNS N08800) Flange Description:
The Incoloy alloy comprises a collection of high-performance alloys produced by Special Metals Corporation. They are nickel–iron–chromium alloys designed for applications that demand high corrosion resistance and high temperature strength. Incoloy alloys and Inconel alloys differ in composition; this leads to variations in performance and use. Alloy 800 is used for equipment that must resist corrosion, retain high strength and withstand oxidation, carburisation and other effects from high temperature loads. The chromium within the alloy provides oxidation and corrosion resistance. The high nickel content establishes an austenitic structure; this renders the alloy ductile. Nickel also contributes to reducing scaling, general corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. In addition, the iron present aids in resisting internal oxidation.

Incoloy 800 (Alloy 800, UNS N08800) Flange Applications:
- Steam/hydrocarbon reforming is practised in components such as pigtails, collectors, distributors, transfer pipes, catalyst pipes and quench system pipes.
- Ethylene pyrolysis tubes operate in convection and radiation zones; they offer resistance to carburisation and maintain the required mechanical properties.
- Ethylene dichloride cracker tubes are applied where resistance to carburisation and dry hydrogen chloride and chlorine components is needed, for example in heat exchangers and piping systems in coal processing plants.
- Tubes for steam generators in helium-cooled and high temperature reactor systems are fabricated with high strength and show resistance to both helium and steam.
