Incoloy 800 (Legierung 800, UNS N08800) Plate/Sheet Description:
The Incoloy alloy comprises a range of superalloys produced by Special Metals Corporation. These are nickel–iron–chromium alloys used in applications requiring high corrosion resistance and high temperature strength. The composition differences between Incoloy and Inconel alloys lead to variations in their applications.
The Alloy 800 is extensively employed as a structural material for equipment that must be corrosion resistant, exhibit high strength, or withstand oxidation, carburisation and other detrimental effects from high temperature exposures. The chromium contained in the alloy provides oxidation and corrosion resistance. A high nickel content results in an austenitic structure, thereby rendering the alloy ductile. The nickel also contributes to the alloy’s resistance against scale formation, general corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. The iron content provides resistance to internal oxidation.

Incoloy 800 (Alloy 800, UNS N08800) Plate/Sheet Applications:
- Steam/hydrocarbon reforming for components such as pigtails, collectors, distributors, transfer pipes, catalyst pipes and quench system pipes
- Ethylene pyrolysis tubes in convection and radiation sections, thereby offering resistance to carburisation and maintaining acceptable mechanical properties
- Ethylene dichloride cracking tubes that provide resistance to carburisation and to dry hydrogen chloride and chlorine components; these are used in heat exchangers, piping systems, etc. in coal processing plants
- Boiler tubes for steam generators in helium coolant and high temperature reactor systems, which exhibit high strength and resistance against helium and steam
